There are great pubs in the Farringdon area. Both Sutton Arms are nice, Hand and Shears, Olde Red Cow, Corwn, Jerusalem Tavern, Seckforde Arms Butchers Hook and Cleaver, Ye Olde Mitre, Rising Sun, Hope, they all have a reason to recommend them.

Thank you – glad to hear people are enjoying my ramblings! I don’t name Dulltown, to spare its blushes and avoid the possibility of my current employer getting the hump, but it’s not actually all that far from Ewell – so we both understand the dullness that Surrey, otherwise a charming enough county, is capable of when it tries!

Good luck with that – I tried the CSS upgrade for a while on wordpress.com and it baffled me so much I decided there was no chance of me ever moving to wordpress.org!

I meant the Sutton Arms on Carthusian Street, near Farringdon. It’s just off the Smithfield Market, which is another non-dull attraction near my temp place of work. I have just had my contract extended another two months, woo hoo! Hope your assignment is not as dull as the location.

I don’t know the Sutton Arms – is that the one in Sutton, or is there one in central London? I can’t recommend the one pub near my work as it’s not exactly characterful. I tend to go straight home afterwards. Having said that, there are a couple of bar/restaurants that actually look quite nice, which I mean to try out sometime when it’s warm enough to sit outside.

I reckon you’re right there. It must feel weird knowing you live in a place that was built with good intentions to help those in need, whose minds and lives were disturbed while they lived there.
