JOURNALISTS & COPYWRITERS This is a list of useful resources for freelances, courtesy of journalist Penny Dakin Kiley. Her list includes sources of advice on finance and training. Martyn is a freelance copywriter, like me. He’s a “wishy-washy liberal” who hates apostrophe mis-use, also like me, and who writes humorously on that and other subjects – like me.

PHOTOGRAPHERS Frances Taylor at Thordale Photography specialises in horse and pony portraits. She runs a Shetland pony stud in the Shetlands and is the owner of the ponies whose photos went viral a while back when they were photographed wearing Fairisle sweaters for a Scottish Tourist Board ad. Tom does some very nice and unusual portraits and location shots. Contact me to be put in touch if you like his online portfolio.

AO Portraiture London-based portrait photographers providing pics for dating sites, social media, actors’ portfolios etc

Astrid Schulz Photography Pics of products, places, things and people

Capon Photography is a wedding photography specialist. We worked together many years ago, in another life, in the press office of a corporation, but both managed to escape.

These are blogs and websites I like or visit, for whatever reason. A varied bunch, mainly about journalism, language and politics, but a few odds and sods as well. If you hover over the names of the individual links, you should see a brief description of what they’re about.
