Are you a creative agency that needs holiday or maternity cover?

I am an ideasy person who can adapt her writing style to suit the tone of any project – the more creative the better. Check out my blog posts to see how I write when given free rein.

When writing, I adapt my style to suit the tone of a particular project – whether it’s a factual business report, a concise news story, an indepth human interest feature, a to-the-point press release or creative sales literature and marketing communications. Projects that involve a more humorous style are particularly welcome.

When sub-editing, I enjoy the craft of meticulously turning turgid prose into informative, readable copy to fit the required length and style – with suitable headlines and captions.

Are you a business that needs help with communications?

We can research and write news, interviews and features for your customer newsletters and brochures, websites, blogs and staff magazines. We can sub-edit other writers’ copy, source and brief photographers and liaise with your graphic designers to produce finished pages.

Or… We can write press releases about your company’s news, to help gain publicity for your activities and products; and advise on how you might best maximise the potential of traditional and new media in getting your business’s messages across.

Are you a newspaper or magazine publisher?

We can offer you great features on any topic – well-researched, beautifully written – on a per-1000-word basis, to your brief.

Or… I can join your team on a by-the-day basis to write general or business news.

Or… you can bring me in to join your in-house subbing team, where I will meticulously and methodically check and rewrite the copy produced by your reporters or contributors, write relevant captions and headlines that fit, and proof-read pages.

“I had the pleasure of working with Sue earlier this year and her work was always accurate and delivered in a timely manner. I very much enjoyed working alongside her and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sue."

Eleanor Keymer, Features Editor, Jane’s Defence Weekly, IHS Jane’s

“Another big “THANK YOU!” to Susan Fenton for her varied support with everything from copy writing, local opportunities / resources and assisting greatly with t-shirt ideas for ManciniWear!”

Winston Hoyte, owner, Mancinism Design

“Susan is a first class sub-editor and writer. She is quick, flexible and brilliant at spotting even the smallest query or mistake on my part. She quickly grasped the terminology of an industry she was unfamiliar with and happy to work on to ensure deadlines were met. I would not hesitate to employ her. “

Andrew Kidd, editor, Interiors Monthly magazine.

Published work covers a wide range of subjects including women’s interest, crime, local government, business management, retailing, product design, financial services, telecommunications and ‘home interest’ (greeting cards, party products, gifts, kitchenware, furniture, tableware and garden products).

Contacts in a wide range of publishing-related disciplines, such as graphic design, photography and print, can help with larger projects.

I am a member of the National Union of Journalists, am NCTJ-qualified, hold a full, clean driving licence and hold a full, current passport.

Work can be carried out at clients’ premises if in the London area, or from my fully-equipped home office, as required. I can handle most work remotely and have done work for publishers in mainland Europe and Canada.
